Xlink Kai in XBMC need disable/enable to work!
#1
I´m using the 17feb Gasgiver CVS and Xlink Kai (in XBMC) is behaving strange, it never connects to the PC after a cold boot.

If i disable and then enable Kai in the XBMC preferences it starts right away and the "arrow" shows in the main menu!

I tried to delete the UDATA/XBMC folder and Interface settings xml´s but the problem won´t go away.

Any clues guys?

Same issue here. Click disable, then enable and it works, but you have to do this after every reboot.
It's been doing this for a month or so I think.

Think this is a PM3 issue .. In MC360 it works flawlessly. Can someone confirm this problem only occurs with PM3 ??

Confirmed. This issue is only affecting recent builds of XBMC using the PM3 skin.

Yes, I will jump on the bandwagon. PMIII does have issues with kai.

Xbox-Classic works good though.

Looking forward to a fix for this, is there a workaround avaiable?

and from my sourceforge post
Quote:Here is what the actual problem is and it lies with XBMC not the skin
After some checking out the cause of the problem is the Conditional vis of
the Play DVD button of <visible>System.HasMediaDVD +
System.KaiConnected</visible>
it seems that anytime you add another condition on to System.KaiConnected
it prevents kai from connecting on boot.

If you actually remove the System.HasMediaDVD from both dvd buttons in
home.xml Kai will connect fine at first boot.
Replace System.HasMediaDVD with any other condition and the same problem
happens with Kai not connecting. If you remove System.KaiConnected from
both dvd <visible> states then Kai connects fine at boot because its not
pared with another condition.

So someone needs to track it down in the xbmc source not the skin

Jezz X, thanks a lot for the info.

I have created a temporary fix for the PM3 skin. I have removed one of the 'conditional dvd' buttons and the reference to kai on the other dvd button, moved the bottom row of buttons slightly left and placed the 'kai' button to the right(see pic) of the 'sub-menu shutdown' button and corrected the 'onleft', 'onright' references.
Kai will now be working when XBMC boots up and with any subsequent reboots if it is enabled in settings.
Below are some rarred Kai fixed 'Home.xml's'. Download the rar relevant to you depending on whether you have 4:3 or 16:9 set in XBMC. These files are tested working with the 26-2-2007 build of XBMC.

Widescreen

Kai for widescreen

Download the above file, unrar and overwrite the 'Home.xml' in the following folder:

XBMC/skin/Project Mayhem III/PAL16x9/

Note:even if you are an NTSC user, it still goes in the above folder.

4:3 pan-and-scan

Kai for 4:3 pan and scan

Download, unrar and overwrite the 'Home.xml' in the following folder:

XBMC/skin/Project Mayhem III/PAL/

Note:even if you are an NTSC user, it still goes in the above folder.

The new 4th March build still hasn't got Kai fixed so here is the fix for this build. The Home.xml's are slightly different from the Feb build and I couldn't be bothered to move the kai button this time, so there will be a single button gap if you have a dvd in the tray and Kai isn't enabled.
Same as before, overwrite the Home.xml in the relevant folder depending on whether XBMC is set to 4:3 or 16:9.
