The HDHomerun is the most open source friendly tuner on the planet. Since it basically takes a TV signal and converts it to ethernet it requires no drivers.
I have gotten mine to work in SageTV (Windows), EyeTV (OSX), and MythTV (Linux).
If XBMC ends up choosing a PVR backend that doesn't support the HDHomerun that would be a monumental failure on XBMC's part. I promise if the final PVR branch doesn't have at least a decent guide to enable HDHomerun support either I will personally make that guide or I will turn into the worlds biggest pain-in-the-ass possible on these forums to get that support into XBMC Live....
