Hi, same problem as above. Read the first page but no idea what is the best hardware for me.
I bought 4k HDR10 projector, have NAS with LAN gigabit connection and now the problem is how to stream the content to the projector. Requirements:
- do not need a fancy box with remote control so my first choice was RPi3+ or even better Rock64/Pine64 but they still have an issues with HDR10 support
- want support for video formats: mpeg-h/hevc (h264, h265), mp4 in 4k HDR10
- want support for audio formats: 5.1 DD, DD Plus, DTS, DTS-HD up to 7.1
- want gigabit LAN and HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2) ports
- do NOT need Atmos and Dolby Vision - my projector will never support it
- player & OS doesn't matter - just stable
I didn't find a cheap device to achieve that so instead of buying expensive (well performing) box I'm also thinking about console - PS4 Pro / Xbox X. For years I used to use my PS3 as media center to stream 1080p mkvs from NAS or as a standard BD Player and it works perfect! Additionally I can run a game form time to time.
