Typically USB2 in the real world can transfer at approx 240Mbps, peak bitrates for 4K Bluray Rips are around 130Mbps
USB2 is more than sufficient to playback the highest bitrate 4K HDR Bluray Rips + accompanying HD audio you can get anywhere - without stuttering or any playback problems at all.

That has been well tested by Kodi users.

It's not as though, on a boat you are going to be Saving any massive files thru a USB2 port using a simple media player.
Saving data on to mass storage is where USB3 will be of great benefit with faster transfer speeds.
