Passthrough not working
#16
Don't mean to threadjack, but I feel I have to chime in here as I'm experiencing what seems to be a quite similar issue – DTS (core) passthrough over spdif was working properly in previous Kodi versions, without any induced frameskips when connected to a 23.976Hz capable display. With the latest Kodi 17 Alpha build (17.0-ALPHA2 Git:2016-05-16-d87aca7) unfortunately only DD 5.1 is output when 'DTS capable receiver' is checked. Also, when 'Enable Dolby digital transcoding' is unchecked, no audio is output at all (as it apparently relies completely on transcoding)

Debug log:https://www.dropbox.com/s/55yi6do4ul6zsse/kodi-log-dts-spdif.txt?dl=0

btw.-I have the settings set to 'Expert', but it appears the 'sync playback to display' option is removed (?). At least I cannot find it anymore.

Try reading this: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/561
and testing the hdmi_audio_config=0x200 option.

This looks like a rpi config flag to me?

Yes, add to config.txt.

Ack - I did not notice until now that the thread was rpi-specific. Apparently all the Kodi 17 compiling+testing today has left me a bit cross-eyed.
Sorry for the noise as this is no doubt related to a separate issue.. :/

Hello

I found this post thanks to google.
I think you can help me and confirm me before I buy an hifiberry.

I am in the way of connecting my RPI3 with openelec/kodi to my sound bar which can play dolby and DTS.
(TV Panasonic tx-48AX630E & Sound bar Yamaha YAS 203 )
My TV is connected to the bar sound throught optical SPDIF.
At the moment I just discovered that I couldn't transmit DD and DTS audio from RPI to sound bar through my TV.
(RPI => HDMI => TV => optical =>sound bar)

So the only solution I found would be to add Hifiberry Digi+ and go SPDIF to my sound bar.

Reading this post give me a doubt.
Can you confirm me that this will work and I will have DD and DTS from Kodi to my sound bar ?

Thanks a lot
(sorry for my english, hope I am clear)

popcornmix, do you know why passthrough is disabled when watching Live TV (PVR)?

And is it permanent or just a bug that will be fixed at some point?

Thanks for any info Smile

This is some limitation on your TV. My TV passes DD as is. DTS codec no support, but i can enable transcoding to dolby and pass throgh TV set also.

Why Digi+? There are cheap chinese usb dacs with spdif, that will solve it. I have one 5 bucks cost. No problem with passthrough.
