No audio output for some video files
#1
I look around and could not find anywhere other than here to post this problem report. If this is not the right place, please let me know where it should go. I could not find any board for native running, only on systems I am not using.

I have some video files which produce no audio on KODI running native on RasPi2 platform. Other files (thousands) play just fine on all the same hardware. These play OK on VLC on Windows 10 computer. KODI running on RapPi2 to HDMI carrying video and audio to a TV.

VLC says it is MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) Stereo 48000 Hz. I get audio just fine from VLC.

On that one, KODI says D(Audio: aac(LC), 48000 Hz, mono, fltp)

On another with no audio, VLC says MPEG Audio layer 3 (mp3) and plays it just fine, also.

On that file, KODI says D(Audio: mp3 (U[0][0][0].0x0055) 48000 Hz, stereo, s16p, 114kb/s)

I get audio just fine from most file but these will not produce audio on KODI but play ok on VLC on Windows.

What do I need to do to get KODI to produce this audio. I would rather watch these on TV than computer screen. Will be glad to post any other information from the KODI O screen that may be required.

Thanks for any help,
Mike

A debug log (wiki) may help. Also what is your audio setup and settings?
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

Those are audio codec types Kodi always has volume control of, could your working files be audio codec types such as Dolby Digital & DTS which are being set out via Passthrough for decoding on TV/AVR. In which case try increasing volume with the + key to ensure it's at 100%.
