Hey, I guess this is not a operating system problem but rather its just kodi

i have pictures and videos on my hdd and want to watch it in kodi.

Pictures
- PictureFolder1
- img1.jpg
- img2.jpg
- video1.mp4
- PictureFolder2
- ...

When i open the Picture Window on the "Pictures" folder i see PictureFolder1, PictureFolder2, ... with some Thumbnails. Great. when I select one I see all pictures with thumbnails and the video files without thumbnails. not great but ok. when I open img1.jpg kodi shows img1.jpg. when i switch right kodi shows img2.jpg. also great. but when I switch right again i see a black screen and nothing happens. kodi does not automatically start video1.mp4. when I click back and select the video it starts but when i switch to it the video doesnt start.

Is there a possibility to view both pictures and videos. do I need an add-on or something?
