Yes, there is and that's what I use for the local playback. In that case I just pass the raw pcm audio to kodi and add some wave headers to it.
In case of Connect playback I can't tell when the stream is started or not. Librespot will just be outputting audio because someone told it to do so.
Offcourse I can work around that and buffer the audio so the Kodi player can pick it up but that let me to more trouble.
Long story short, for now I thought that outputting the connect stream directly to the sound card was the best option.
In the meanwhile I will keep checking for other options.
The loopback audio device sounds interesting...

NO, but you can give it a try, maybe it will work but I won't provide any support.

It had been working fine until yesterday! Here is the log file to compare with anyone else suddenly having this issue:
If you update to the latest version (1.1.22) this will be fixed again.

Ah I still only see 1.1.20 and I've rebooted many times. Is LibreELEC just bad at refreshing repos?
You can try to hit the "check for updates" button in the sideblade menu while you're in the sections section.
Maybe you're using a proxy ?

Yeah it was that. Auto-update apparently... doesn't.

Can you try again with 1.1.22 ? I found another workaround so now the Kodi player is also used for the connect-based playback.
