Unfortunately I can't use the method you proposed because I use the History to watch on Kodi videos that I previously started on my PC, so I don't need a list of local watched items on Kodi.
For now I partially resolved the problem with the "Send to XBMC" (works with Kodi too) add-on for Firefox, that allows to send the video stream from YouTube to playback on Kodi.
Anyway, I still prefer the History in the official plugin. Do you think it can be fixed anytime soon or it's gone forever?

Unfortunately the google api is preventing access to history at the moment.
Also as I mentioned here (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2418500):
"as far as history is concerned this has been a problem for a long time as it does not sync correctly (api problem again I believe - there was no 2 way sync, we were only seeing web history in the Kodi addon)."
Hence my suggestion to use Last Played to create a local history.
In addition although it is a work around rather than a solution I will requote my post from here where I basically suggest that you play all YouTube videos via Kodi (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2420738).
I note that you use the same extension on Firefox, so, basically dont watch videos on the web with your PC, watch them on Kodi with your PC

I do this often because I tend to multitask, so I play the video on an alternate screen/device close to me (sometimes while continuing to browse/search on YouTube with the PC)
PS: If you have the Kore remote installed on your Android device you will also be able "Play to Kodi" from the YouTube mobile app.
Hope this helps
