maybe you can fill up your storage up until you only have 500mb storage so it wont install.
of you can block this url from your router  https://android.googleapis.com/packages/..._once_once

Pix aren't working for me. 60mbps is indeed too slow for 4k hdr. I think I'll get 300mbps ez on wifi when I test the xiaomi tomorrow. I'll report back with pix tomorrow.

Otherwise it's going back ^^

Not sure if it works on your end.
Anyone already tried blocking the OTA domain to prevent the update?
I just tried setting up an openDNS account and blocked
android.googleapis.com
and it somehow prevented me to download the OTA file

if your router supports custom scripts and configs like AsusWRT by Merlin you can try this approach.
I created a host file to block the domain.
/jffs/configs/hosts.add
127.0.0.1 android.googleapis.com
and it also blocked me from downloading the OTA file.

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately for the moment I only have the internet provider router which is not really configurable. I can only block IP adresses. I tried a ping to android.googleapis.com and it answered 172.217.21.74

I can try to block that IP, but it may change from time to time. Another thing: could it be that it will have side effects, such as preventing the access to some Google services ? What happens if I have an Android phone on the same network ?

edit: no way, there are plenty of IP adresses corresponding to this url

you can check my XDA post someone there with  Netgear R7800 also having issues with their mibox only giving him 50Mbps speed.

Hi all! i just bought this box and after setting up an smb configuration, the full hd movies start buffering after some time or just simply quit. I assume this is an known issue?
Also, im using the hdmi cable from raspberry pi 3, and i think netflix is not playing in fullhd mode. is there a way to check this?

regards,

regards,

connect a full keyboard via USB or bluetooth.
run netflix. playback a movie.
while movie is playing back press F4.
this should show you the stats like the resolution.

Okay, i just test and sideloaded Blokada. You can add the host android.googleapis.com in the blacklist.

Good idea, thanks a lot ! I sideloaded this app, and had to use a USB mouse to enter into the blacklist configuration. I added android.googleapis.com with the virtual keyboard. Now I cross fingers, I will report side effects if any.

Well actually even with the "keep alive" option Blokada does not appear in the list of running applications, so I'm not sure it is actually effective.

Just tried a movie with amc-h264 and ac3 and it stutters constantly....via SMB connection. Also another with AAC audio also stutters but less.
Edit:It seems it's not smb related after all since I tried streaming from internet and it's the same.
Is there anything we can do to fix this?

totle shows how really poorly Xiaomi care about fixing Firmware Bugs before sending out a Firmware update.
Beta Testers told Xiaomi months an months ago about this simple mis-spelling and it still it did not get fixed.
It should be correctly spelled "Total"

In previous generations of AMLogic Marshmallow Firmware there are Frame Rate Refresh Switching Policies - Mode 1 and Mode 2.

Mode 1 (part in Oreo) is for auto resolution switching in Kodi & SPMC Apps if you also selected in Kodi settings - Adjust Display Refresh Rate to Start/Stop
Mode 2 (totle in Oreo) is more comprehensive and auto refresh switching then works with a whole bunch of Android Apps. BUT it is pretty buggy.

HDMI Self adaptation part/totle does not work with Oreo because of really poor testing and logging by Xiaomi themselves. Such Errors in Android logs are really basic stuff that any Newb Android developer would have picked up.

The reason why Auto refresh switching / HDMI Self Adaptation does not work is found in THIS post (click)

Auto Start Sling likely auto starts the Sling TV App on bootup.

So summing it up, you have a shiny new partially buggy Android TV Oreo OS from Google, Apps that are not fully compatible with Oreo, a brand new underlying Linux Kernel from AMLogic and a device released by a company who cares little it seems about getting even the basics right - like stable WiFi and NTFS HDD connectivity.

(tongue firmly in cheek) - I mean what could possibly go wrong ?

The words - "you get what you pay for" have never been more true !

Sad
Thanks for all these information Wink
It means we can hope something good from KODI Team for auto frame rate or we have to wait for Xiaomi firmware update ?
