busybox location bug fixed

File Manager now uses drag and drop for pushing files
and directories from the local filesystem to the
Android device. Although deprecated, the previous
method of pushing files can still be used by
checking "Use old file manager" in preferences.

Application preferences now saved in a JSON file

APK install directory retains last location used.

Backup/restore directory retains last location used.

Scrcpy arguments dialog is now optional via preferences.

Utility menu function added to clear database

When notified a new version of adbLink is ready
for download, view changelog is now an option. A
utility menu function has been added to view changelog
as well.

Utility menu function added to view system information:
(architecture, devicename, manufacturer,
filesystem scope status and Android version)

Ad hoc IP now accepts a port.
Enter ip with format: <ip>:<port>
Default is port 5555.

installing latest adblink windows installer, it shows "adbLink2" in blurp a few times:

If you set up Kodi on the new 4KMax stick you'll see that Amazon's Android 11 aka Fire OS 8.1, is missing the "Allow management of all files" permissions setting for Kodi that you see on Android TV devices. This setting must be toggled on in order for Kodi to read the /sdcard/xbmc_env.properties file that allows you to relocate Kodi's data files.

A workaround is to open the adb shell window and at the "karat:/$" prompt paste the following command:

appops set --uid org.xbmc.kodi MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE allow

After this Kodi will properly read xbmc_env.properties. I'll have new code to automate this in an upcoming release.

(It may be that the setting is buried somewhere in Amazon's GUI and I haven't located it yet.)

users, adbfiles has a symlink to 
/usr/bin/aapt which will need to be installed
via apt-get.

When using a Android 11/Fire OS 8.1 device, Kodi's 
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission is set
to "allow" (to permit Kodi to access local 
files outside of its sandbox). This occurs
when a backup is restored.

A "Set app permissions" function is added to the 
Utility menu to allow changing the MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE 
status for any application that includes this permission in
its manifest. This is for Android 11/Fire OS 8.1 or greater 
devices only.

A "Get package name" function is added to the Utility 
menu. The package name is required to change the 
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission for an application. This 
function requires the aapt utility mentioned above.

Does adblink work the restore feature on Android 12? I'm trying to do a restore to a TV with Google TV OS version 12, and it does not work. When doing a restore I get the failed error messsage and via the logs I see Permission Denied errors all over the place.
I read the info on the website about Android 11 and the FireOS issue, but it doesn't seem to apply here. Is there something I'm missing that must be done, if at all to do a restore? Any help would be great to figure this out.  (Edit: Answered, update needs to be released for Android 12 support, thanks to the developer for the response)

adblink 5.8 is now tested with Alma, Arch, Debian, Mint & Ubuntu Linux distros. No issues that I've seen.
