http stream

Hi all, first of all I'd like to apologise for the long post but wanted to give as much info as possible.

I am using kodi on multiple android devices.

I have created a stream (using vlc) from my enigma satellite receiver which looks like this
http://**********.no-ip.biz:****/stream.flv

If I put the above onto my browser (chrome) it opens up a window asking "open with" and a list of apps. Kodi is one of them, when I select kodi it plays faultlessly.

Now my query is this, is it possible to open the stream directly from kodi, bypassing the chrome step, as this is cumbersome using for example a fire TV stick.

I have tried the play list loader and it just continually says "working"

I can just put the http:// link into either mx or vlc player but would like to use kodi as that's what I use for all of my media.

Thanks in advance because although I'm reasonably new to this I can normally work stuff out and this is doing my head in

open a text editor and place that URL in the text file.

file, save as and change the extension to .strm

Thank you. I thought I'd tried that but made the schoolboy error of renaming the link to .strm instead of the .text file. Oops
