Android Passthrough Changes with v17
(2017-01-17, 22:56)fritsch Wrote: @Etzi: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk <- test that please (wait until it's up). Carefully take a look at the Audio settings, you might find a new setting. As I just hacked it in - I did not verify the rescan is triggered when changing that new setting. So a Debug Log would be nice. AC3 encode uses 448 kbit/s.

That GUI element does not seem to do anything (No noise, indicating it does not work)

http://paste.ubuntu.com/23822793/

Everything else works fine (Transcoding to AC3 448Kbit/s):

Quote:Audio
Sound Mode Dolby D + Dolby Surround
Input Signal Dolby Digital
Sample Rate 48 kHz
Format 3/2/.1

That Debug log is probably useless, my audiostack was screwed up again, which means I only got silence (when I dumped it)...
Will test everything again and post new Debug log. BTW that new setting is useless to me (or my ears will drop off)

EDIT: http://paste.ubuntu.com/23822932/

That new setting does not seem to do anything, at least my ears still aren't bleeding...
for me transcoding works. Still have no idea what is THAT GUI element.
Set it and restart Kodi?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Are you sure, I know what will happen, if I do it on my device... Big Grin
Anyways, I will give it a shot...just for the sake of log...
http://paste.ubuntu.com/23823259/

Result => Locked up Audiotrack and silence...
At least I still have my hearing and wife and...my cat is still alive.

Anyways for my Mediatek based TV, AC3 448Kbit/s (anything <640Kbit/s actually) and forced transcoding (via sync to display) seems to be best, everything works.
Unfortunately no DTS on my FireTV. I have the additional GUI element "forcepcm", but the element "DTS capable receiver" is missing, even after a restart of KODI. But I did not use your apk but applied your commit #111c9d2 "AESinkAudioTrack: Add a trivial (non callback) setting for the PCMHACK" and built it on my own. The idea was great
Just fix it up :-) - you know the Settings singleton is not yet initialized at this point. From one mess into the other. As you want the hack anyways - just use the normal shitty build. See the branch.

Hello,
Need advise with HiMedia Q10Pro with Android 7.0.0 API level 24, f/w HMD-2.0.1 2017-01-10.164949, because with audio passthrough allow got only silence, like know if is broker f/w and need to push HiMedia for fix or can be fixed on Kodi builds.

Debug log
Kodi set to 2.0_Optimal passthrough allow
http://pastebin.com/9unw7Bnd

Kodi set to 7.1 Best match passthrough allow
http://pastebin.com/5Bx7zDDU
Actually notced, that this "shitty" build has serious audio sync issues (Needed delay ~2.725s for ID4) on transcoding, not sure yet why...
Also, when movie is started there is 1-2 second silence at the beginning...before audio starts...and audio seems to be actually ahead of the movie Confused

The only change in that regard is the bitrate you requested. The next shitty one is really shitty again :-)

@Etzi
Thanks for answer already try "20170116-188703a-Krypton", "20170107-14e67df-probablyfinal", "20170104-5c13cbe-goodpatched", "Krypton_rc3/rc2" and many others build, all give only silence.
I can post log with other version suggest it, in case is not HiMedia broken f/w and Kodi developer want and have time to try fixed on Kodi side.

I know, I looked at the Jenkins...that's why I don't understand what the hell is going on right now...
Ofc, i tested with 448kbit/s AC3 audio file to find out, what is the highest our MTK's support.

That build that I used before, refuses to install now, so I will probably remove everything and start over as something looks really screwed up...
I would understand if audio would lag behind, due to lack of processing power, etc...but being ahead... Big Grin

You may want to try this as im getting DTS and DD passthrough in this build.
Im using AML S905X 6.01 version

He, just like me and every other android TV user with TV as kodi device have MTK SoC and the only thing that properly passes through is AC3 up to 448kbps.
Well, reinstalled that "not completely shitty, shitty build with AC3 448" and now waiting after my wife to get some testing time.
Did complete reinstall to Kodi, without any old settings and such, well see...

Now that is odd, all the passtrough settings are gone, except "generic" allow passtrough...
And only thing that works is PCM 2.0, next I will reinstall this whole damn TV, as obviously something is completely screwed up.
