Is there a way to have one screen with the interface only (touchscreen) and output the video only to a second screen?
I d like to setup a Multimedia touchscreen as the interface but have it control and video out to my TV.

I dont want to mirror because I want to play 4k footage and my touchscreen wont be 4k.

I am not a dev so my answer will be a rather uneducated one, but I do not think it's possible to separate the GUI from the video screen the way you would like to do. Also, I do believe the GUI is rendered in the specified resolution in config, even if the video stream would be higher like 4k.
Again, no expert here so ...
In all fairness, why not use Yatse or Kore to control the system? It's a separate interface and does some smart extras
