So then what player does XBMC for Windows version use?
Can that default be changed for a different player?

DVDplayer is the only player used in the ports you may be able to launch an external player with the "launcher plugin" when its ready

Hello,
I am a happy user of both MPlayer & XBMC on Linux. I discovered the former one many years ago, and the latter only some days ago.
I can say that XBMC is good. To be honest, is THE BEST. I tried as many MCs as there are on linux, and I express my opinion only as an end-user. Its ergonomics and design are amazing. I won't carry on, but I can say that it meets all my requirements. All ... ? Well, almost. Why ?
Because I can also say that MPlayer is THE BEST, too. I saw that someone refers to MPlayer (or its advantages/usage within the scope of XMC) as some obscure codecs. With all due respect, sir ... are you blind? Do you need me to attach some screenshots to see the difference? Do you think that 2 hours of pleasant visual experience can be traded off with "integration", "seamless", etc. or anything else? I don't mean to be impolite, I was infinitely pleased by XBMC. I will use it for music playback. But I most likely won't use it for movie playback. Team leaders and project managers, please listen to a humble user: unless this internal player of XBMC is not the best (or until MPlayer is still matched by it), XBMC will simply NOT be the best. And that is a shame. It might as well be that the DVDPlayer will never be as good as MPlayer. I see a dead end, somewhere.
I don't want to put any pressure or play the smart one. Every option should be explored:
- if I want "my" Mplayer on "my" XBMC - any solution is better than nothing - even stating it as an external player; I will gladly trade off "integration" with MPlayer;
- there are a few mentions about "time", "money", "effort", etc. Can't we make a fundraise? Doesn't anybody know any millionaire? Not one sigle time a developer/team-leader/manager mentioned a sizing (in time or money) for this project. Why not?
Please, please - at least keep this in mind: essential parts should be the best in order to have the best thing. I can use a Maybach, if I don't have good gas, it won't run. Or I just can keep it in my yard and look at it from time to time.
And I want to thank to all XBMC contributors. You've done such a GREAT job.

Feel free to show screenshots that show that mplayer has "better" output than xbmc, sure.
Make sure you post the settings you are using for mplayer.

Maybe I've missed something but why is mplayer still the default player on Xbox, although DVDplayer is available there too (and the default on all other platforms)? And additionally: why can't one set the default player (mplayer or dvdplayer) on Xbox-xbmc?

realn: The best idea is to paste them to any of the many free image sites out there (imageshack etc)
