Hmm, seems a little unlikely - not really seeing anything in #1123 that might explain such a change of behaviour compared with #1122. So at least in #1123 your TP-Link does sometimes connect/work? This would isolate the break to #1124, which might be something in the kernel or a rpi-4.14.y change.

Can you boot #1125 and upload your dmesg to a pastebin site, then post the link?
