It's odd that gdb isn't able to produce a stacktrace as Kodi has started and gdb is going through the motions. If Kodi doesn't even start then it's normal for there to be no crashlog but that's not the case here. Very odd... It's possible the memory map threshhold change is impacting the ability to create a crashlog so that may require further tuning - I'll try and investigate that further when I have time. 
I did some testing with all kinds of builds and it started with this build:

#1020, 20-Oct-2017: RPi / RPi2 -- Release post (New firmware; new 4.13.8 kernel; update to ffmpeg-3.4 (3.4-Leia-Alpha-1); update HEVC patches, reduces memory usage a little more)

with #1019 yatse browsing of files doesn't crash libreelec, starting with 1020 it does
