v18 -  LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
It turns out we might not build gcc for host after all - the "host" gcc we are building is actually the cross-compile gcc for the target. Which means we always depend on the build host gcc (5.4.0, 7.3.0, whatever) which is obviously a bit of a lottery. Adding the CXXFLAGS to force the build host gcc to compile flatbuffers will hopefully work as a quick fix, but ultimately I think I'd rather we built a host gcc which we could then use in preference to /usr/bin/gcc - that way we would avoid this gcc version lottery when building the host packages, but it is overkill to build gcc for the host as it isn't required in most cases (just use the right flags etc.), so may not happen soon (if at all).

From the consistency POV this is the right thing to do.
But it's a burden Sad

I'm a bit inclined to see this as an issue in the flatbuffer's build system. If it requires compiler flags or C/C++ standard that' are not default on semi-recent compilers it should check for that and if needed add the appropriate C/CXX flags.

so long,

@smp1, @asavah: I've updated the flatbuffers package in this branch and it now compiles successfully with gcc-5.3.0 on Ubuntu 16.04, and gcc-7.3.0 on Ubuntu 17.10. Thanks to you both.

Thank you again milhouse!
Finally i'm up and running again.
The tip regarding space on my sdcard was the right track.

That LTO issue had something to do with Ubuntu 16.04. No such problem when building in Ubuntu 18.04.

I can confirm that there are major issues with DVD menus on current builds. This is specific to RPi/mmal - no such issues on a PC.

Thanks, good to know (and explains why these builds are not affected as I'm using Ubuntu 17.10). A shame we are unlikely to discover what causes this issue with 16.04, although we still build release builds on 16.04 (using Jenkins) and it may be something we need to keep an eye out for once we start publishing official LE9 alpha/beta builds.

Can either of you identify when these menu issues first appeared in these test builds?

I believe build #0127 introduced most of those issues.

VideoPlayer: rewrite yuv to rgb conversion for OpenGL (PR:13428, 8 commits, 50 files changed)
[GLES] VideoShader cleanup (PR:13416, 5 commits, 40 files changed)

DVD menus were never perfect in Kodi but those 2 PRs really screwed things up.

I started a new thread with the below but I figure it should be posted here.  This issue is definitely specific to V18:

I have witnessed a black screen flickering across multiple v18 Nightlies on a RPi 3B+.  I have since returned to v17 without this issue.

The issue only appears to happen with Standard Definition channels (480i).

http://ix.io/1fNI
http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/...licker.zip

The above are uploaded logs as well as a short clip recorded through Kodi/NPVR (I apologize for the randomly located hosting service).  The TS file when played through v18 flickers the same as watching a live channel.  Flickering does not exist when TS file is watched on PC.
