If by charger you mean a typical phone/tablet charger then it's probably not up to the job. Get the official RPi power supply (5.1V, 2.5A), this is known to work well.
The lightning bolt should be taken as a serious warning sign - if the RPi isn't powered properly all sorts of odd errors may occur, including data corruption on the SD card, crashes etc. It could well be that addons failing to install is a consequence of your power supply problems.
