Can you try playing the file locally (e.g. from sdcard or a directly attached USB stick)?

Hi, you are right. Could have thought about doing this by myself. From a hard drive it plays without stuttering.
When I plug the network cable from my raspberry to my shieldTV and use Kodi to play the same movie it also runs perfectly.
So, the Network at least seems to be capable to play it smoothly. Running the movie from the shieldTV, the PC very consistently streams with 60Mbit/s. From my raspberry though the rate has a high variance and goes up and down only between 10–30MBit/s.

Is there any difference how both kodi versions (shield tv and raspberry) Access network files? This could help me to pin down the issue.
Thx!
