Kodi not loadign TV show
#1
Hi

I have ripped my DVD version of Silver Fang to my NAS.
I am having an issue where Kodi is not recognizing this TV show at all. Kodi does not give me a "Silver Fang" folder under TV shows tab.

I have made the following naming structure tests:
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\S01E01-The Small Hero... Silver's Birth!.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\S01E01.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\Silver Fang S01E01.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Silver Fang S01E01.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\Silver Fang S01E01-The Small Hero... Silver's Birth!.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Ginga Nagareboshi gin\Season 1\Ginga Nagareboshi gin S01E01.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Ginga Nagareboshi gin\Season 1\S01E01-The Small Hero... Silver's Birth!.mkv
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Ginga Nagareboshi gin\S01E01-The Small Hero... Silver's Birth!.mkv

I use similar structure for other TV shows like (and works perfectly):
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Band of Brothers\Season 1\S01E01-Currahee.mkv

I am a little unsure whether it is kodi or the scraper that is causing this issue because normally kodi will show the movie or show but if I got something wrong the scraper would find an incorrect title, but here kodi does not give me direct access to the show.
If I go to "Media settings->Library->Videos..." I can browse to a folder named "Silver Fang" (or Ginga Nagareboshi gin) and I can see the individual episodes and can play the episodes. So I can browse to it, but kodi will not recognize it as a tv show to put into the tv show tab.

Any help is appreciated

You're not having much luck tonight. But good that you got the other one to work.

Can you provide the TMDB link for both these TV Shows. I could not find them.

But I found both listed at TVDB. Is this the first one? http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=115431&lid=7

If you are trying all those combinations, it just indicates you are not 100% sure on naming conventions, so take the below advice...

\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\S01E01.mkv
or
\\Nas-media\sd\Series\Silver Fang\Season 1\Silver Fang S01E01.mkv

are the two conventions you should use with the second one being preferrable. Forget the rest, they are unnecessarily complicated and wrong for a couple of them.

Hi again blossom24

Yes the odds of having 2 DVD's with scraping issues on the same day would be low. But better to just have them out of the way at the same time right? Smile

I am not sure that TMDB and themoviedb is the same, but here is a link
https://www.themoviedb.org/search?langua...ilver+fang

What you are noting as 2 shows are actually the same show. "Silver Fang" is a japanese show with the name "Ginga: Nagareboshi gin". IMDB has both titles noted
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362344/

Does anyone have a suggestion to solving the issue?

Yes, they are the same.

That link you provided takes me to "Hundehvalpen Silver 1 (afs. 1-4) (2006)" but that is a movie, not a TV Show.

If you look at this show... https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1418-the-b...uage=da-DK Under the Cast and Crew, you will see the "TV Serie Data" heading, and further down a list of all the seasons.

On your link, it is called "Film Data" with no TV seasons or episodes listed. So, there is nothing there for your scraper to find.

That sure is interesting.
It seems that TMDB has incorrectly labled the tv show as movie. Well 5 movies actually.
"Hundehvalpen Silver 1 (afs. 1-4) (2006)"
"Hundehvalpen Silver 2 (afs. 5-8) (2006)"
"Hundehvalpen Silver 3 (afs. 9-12) (2006)"
"Hundehvalpen Silver 4 (afs. 13-16) (2006)"
"Hundehvalpen Silver 5 (afs. 17-21) (2006)"

(afs. 1-4) actually means episode 1-4 in danish. So 5 discs and 21 episodes. In my world this would not be categorized as a movie.
"Hundehvalpen Silver" is the danish title for "Silver Fang". Weird that they have it in danish and not english or japanese.

Is there a better scraper out there than TMDB for tv shows? Or maybe I should take the time and have tmdb change the data for this show. Is that possible?

I always use TheTVDB.com for TV Shows. In this case they seem to have the full listing of 21 Episodes...

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=115431&lid=7

Of course you have the other option you mentioned and add them to the theMovieDB.

I would create another Kodi source for TV Shows, this way you don't mess about with your existing library. Your first source has the scraper set as theMovieDB . I would now create a second source... maybe \\Nas-media\sd\Series-TVDB\Silver Fang\... and set this scraper as theTVDB.

This way in future if it doesn't work with one scraper, simply move it to the other directory and try with another scraper.

I appreciate the advice. I think I will try the scraper you mention and see if it can eat up all my existing work. I will even put in a little work to only have to maintain one scraper. But I will make 2 source directories if needed.

Thanks for helping out Smile
