I have created a few profiles in Kodi 17.1.

Master
Telugu movies
English movies
World movies
Hindi movies

When I login to the Kodi the profiles appear in the above order.

I want to change the order of the profiles on login screen as

Master
English movies
Hindi movies
Telugu movies
World movies

Any help is appreciated.

I found the profiles.xml file in the userdata folder and modified it to the order of my choice. But after rebooting, the login menu was returning to the original order in which I have created the profiles. Even the modified profiles.xml file was being written back to the original order. It seems the profiles order is stored somewhere else (database?) other than the profiles.xml.

As a final resort, I deleted all the existing profiles leaving the Master profile and recreated them to my choice. Problem solved...
