I can' remember what the 5.1 HDMI to optical device was that I bought but it didn't work at all.
Re setting up the RPi, I've rarely had an easier time sorting hardware stuff out. There was some issue trying to get the micro SD card working but the LibreElec thing was easy beyond words, I still don't get the sound from the rear speakers in the room but that could well be because the ISO file hasn't encoded the audio stream in the way that I thought it had. However, it works at least as well as the old Revo used to, it's tiny due to the form factor and uses less power and creates less noise. Win all round I reckon.
Now, if there's a way I can persuade Kodi to see my Amazon Prime account then I will be happy beyond words....
