v17 UltraWide Monitor Problems
#1
So I have a UltraWide 21:9 monitor (2 actually).
Im using a Skin called FTV (Fred Edition) which is designed only for 16:9 - now I can bare using it with its slight stretch but it would be nice to use it with proper compatability for 21:9 mainly because when its stretched the Poster sizes on the Widgets tend to make it more square so it hides some of the image and most of the time hiding so much that I cant even see the title.

Is it possible to run the UI of Kodi in 16:9, but when a video is playing make the video the full size of the monitor 21:9 which will only stretch out if the video's aspect ratio itself should be stretched. Lets say its playing a 16:9 video - dont stretch it but if its playing a 21:9 video then stretch it. You know?

That might be a setting which should be done at your TV. Probably it has some zoom detection or an automated zoom setting (sometimes called "smart") where the TV detects which kind of signal it gets and then uses the native pixels and doesn´t stretch the picture.
That will ofc end up in black bars at the left and the right so that the screen will fit 16:9 and hopefully will show movies in full screen without those black bars in 21:9.

Which TV is it exactly?

Maybe its possible to re-fine the actual sizing of the Poster Size's so that when it does stretch for 21:9 i can make it thinner so that it stretches to the normal size and still in 21:9? Probs not possible right?

It's probably easier just to use Estuary, I believe that works properly with 21:9.

Yep!
Estuary works properly with 21:9 screen:

And if you are testing Kodi 18: there is a skin, based on estuary, which also works with 21:9

Yeah - is there a way in Kodi itself to make the Poster sizes actually scale properly when using 2560x1080?

There is only 2 solutions:

-use a skin that is capable to work on 21:9 screen

-modify yourself your current skin to make it work on 21:9 screen
