I am trying to connect my mac to a smb share they files are shared and can access them by going through manage soutces. When I try to set the path it asks me if I want to refresh information and I click yes but nothing happens and source gets set back to none. Does anyone have any ideas?

I got the exact same problem with 2 macs. I can't access my Library anymore. It never refreshes.

I had the same issue a while back, for me it was a simple reboot of my NAS drives and my Mac mini and all was good.
