HDD auto shutdown
#1
Hi all

i am running kodi 16.1 on raspberry pi 3 with libre elec 7.0.3

While it all works a treat. my external hdd never powers down just keeps spinning all the time the pi is on. is there any way to set it to auto turn off the hdd after some time of not being used? then have it wake it when i need it again?

i know i can unmount the disc or shut down the pi but if i forget i come home to find the disc has been spinning all the time.

thanks

I have a similar setup, although I'm running Raspbian. But yes, it is possible to control the drive. I configured mine some time ago, and don't remember the exact steps off the top of my head, but you need make us of hdparm. This article should at the least point you in the right direction.
