Weird Passthrough Problem. on Phillips Aurea TV
#1
Hi I'm having a really weird problem with passthrough. This is my setup.

(Geforce 710 card) <-- HDMI --> (Phillips Aurea 42PFL9900D/79) <-- Coax --> (Yamaha Receiver HTR-5740)

Okay so I've set Kodi to passthrough DD 5.1 to the TV then coax to the receiver. Cutting a long story short the TV IS getting the DD 5.1 signal, I've made sure this is the case in the info window. However the receiver is only getting 2 channel PCM. The really weird thing is. I have my Xbox360 in the exact same setup, HDMI to the TV. When the TV receives the 5.1 signal, the receiver gets the DD 5.1 signal!!

Its also sharing the same coax cable from the TV to the receiver.

So I have no idea why the SPDIF on my TV sends DD5.1 to the receiver when on my xbox360 and not my PC? I've tried Kodi and also MPC running passthrough and same issue happens.

Any ideas why this would happen? Any Ideas on what I should try?

Thanks.

I might try (Geforce 710 card) <-- HDMI --> (Yamaha Receiver HTR-5740) <-- HDMI --> (Phillips Aurea 42PFL9900D/79) The AVR is a video switcher after all. This link may clarify https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2445137

Looking at that model doesn't look like it has HDMI support, so this is probably why the OP has it connected in an unusual way

In my experience pass thru is not always reliable in this scenario, and the only solution may be to upgrade to a new AV receiver with HDMI input/output

Co-ax/optical is very limited these days in the formats it can handle anyway due to limited bandwidth anyway which limits its usefullness
