Please use https://pastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ for debug logs as the devs don't want to be consistently downloading log files.

You have the passthrough audio device set to the Directsound option for your HDMI, to get HD sound it must be set to the WASAPI option.

[edit] Sorry my mistake, it does try to open WASAPI first which fails so it then falls back to Directsound.

There was a recent change done to the audio systems so could you try the Nightly build from the 13th Nov please.

Is the problem only with HD audio passthrough? are normal DTS and Dolby Digital also affected?

Might also be helpful if you could post a log taken with the working 12th Nov build so a comparison can be made, when doing this use the same movie as before.

I see from both logs you are using the WASPI:default option for the passthrough device, could you try again with todays Nightly build with the passthrough audio device set to "WASAPI: DENON-AVRHD-0" as I wondering why the difference between you and brazen1.

Just to confirm what you say here, using todays Nightly you are getting HD audio passthrough ok? if so how do you set the passthrough audio device? do you use the "WASAPI:default" option like Perlbo or do you explicitly set it to a specific HDMI audio device.

My bad.  Very sorry.  Some files ok with HD audio.  Some not.  Just went to try an atmos.iso.  Iso doesn't play and neither does audio.  I don't think this is anything recent.  Been using an external for quite a while.  If memory serves me right, iso's with v.18 never did work correct but don't rely on me for that.  Using 'Show simplified menu' fwiw.  I know they worked in the past for sure, with HD audio as well but simply can't remember if it was early v.18 or back to v.17?

Hi,

with Kodi KodiSetup-20171115-28db1a8-master-x64.exe and WASAPI: DENON-AVRHD-0 instead of WASPI:default option HD Audio works.
Here the log with working Audio and latest nightly.   WASPI:default does not work.

To help with the confusion, movie only .mkv rips including HEVC or x264 with HD audio such as DTS:HDMA or Dolby True HD work fine.... audio and video using WASAPI.
ISO rips do not work at all... audio or video.  I see the log error for no JAVA.  I've never needed JAVA before.  As I understand it, this is only for experimental menu option and not for main movie playback.  Is this true?  If not and JAVA is required for any playback using v.18, can you provide a link and version of compatible minimal install JAVA required?
