Sorry to interrupt. Just bought the nvidia Shield TV 2017 16GB to replace my old Amazon FireTV 4k (2015) 2nd Gen.

@wrxtasy: is the Shield TV 2017 a  "4k HDR KODI"- Device or should I return it and get the AMLogic S912 Box insted
(price doesn`t matter but it would be half the price of the Shield. I don`t need any gaming features. Just wanting the BEST KODI Device out there)

Thanks for your help

The Shield is fine as a 4K HDR Kodi, Netflix, Amazon device if you permanently leave it setup running a 4K Android system resolution with the correct colorspace and only feed it 4K HDR video content. It is the best Android TV streaming box, not the best 1080p / 4K HDR Kodi box.

Where the wheels fall off is mixed mode 1080p Rec 709 / 4K HDR Kodi or SPMC video playback with Auto Resolution Switching.

You can read about its problems following the links in this post:
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2666185

I suggest you re-read the START HERE hardware thread Post#1 that details solutions in a new AMLogic HDR section.

Neither the Shield nor any of the Amlogic devices follow BT.2087 recommendation for converting BT.709 to BT.2020. Whatever BT.709 to BT.2020 conversion that the Shield is doing now is OK perceptually. It is the HDR to SDR and BT.2020 to BT.709 that it doesn't do right.

If you have a HDR TV and leave the color space on the Shield set to BT.2020, most folks will find it OK.
