The S912 'don't buy' advice is slightly out of date. It was the perceived wisdom for a while - but the S912 is now more recommended than it was. (I think there are still no official Linux GPU drivers - but Android drivers have been repurposed into LibreElec builds - apologies if I've got this wrong)
