I turned off the auto motion plus setting in my 4k Samsung TV and I still can not notice any bug while playing a 1080p video in my Vorke Z1 box.

Did you try a 1080p @ 23.976 fps ?
I have the issue with 23.976 fps videos, not for example with a 30 fps videos....
Do you use ARM v7a or ARM v8a Kodi version?

Or may be the problem is only on Nvidia Shield.....
Kodi 18: Nvidia Shield TV (main device) and LibreELEC on Raspberry Pi 2 and Odroid C2
TV: Panasonic TX-55EZ950E (OLED)
AVR: Onkyo TX-NR509 (HDMI ARC)

Yes and I also tested a live streamed video channel. didn't notice anything and I made a deep checking for a while on both sources.

I use ARM v7a, for some reason I still don't know why every time I try to install ARM v8a the system says "this version isn't compatible with your device", it happens even with version 17.6

The ARM Cortex-A53 is a 64bit processor but most probably you have the 32bit version of Android. On the Sony TV I have the same processor but it is running in 32bit mode. AIDA64 app should tell you if you have a 64 or 32bit version of the OS.

I will do the test, thank you

Yes, you can have a 64bit processor but if Android is the 32bit version you can only install 32bit applications.

(2018-01-18, 10:04)outcave Wrote: Hi guys.
I'm sorry but I still can see choppy video/frames skipping on Nvidia Shield TV.
Nvidia Shield TV is setted to 3840 × 2160 pixel @ 60 Hz.
I have tested both kodi-20180117-c8e69045-master-arm64-v8a and kodi-20180116-a42a8fa4-master-arm64-v8a.
I still can see choppy video/frames skipping with 23.976 fps videos, the same videos played with others player on the same Nvidia Shield TV are smoothly. On Kodi I have 'Adjust display refresh rate' setted to Off (video output is always 3840 × 2160 pixel @ 60 Hz for all videos resolution / fps).

In order to see that video/frames skipping is important to DISABLE any "Motion Interpolation" on the TV otherwhise the tests make no sense beacuse the TV will go to "insert" additional frames "in the middle" of the original frames.
Motion Interpolation (or Motion-compensated Frame Interpolation or Frame Interpolation) is called in various ways according to the brands (commercial name): Intelligent Frame Creation (IFC) for Panasonic; MotionFlow for Sony; TruMotion / MCI (Motion Clarity Index) for LG; Clear Motion Rate (CMR) for Samsung and so on... More info see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation

Please is it possible to better investigate that issue?

More, can you try to test again videos/movies with 23.976 fps and make sure to have the Motion Interpolation feature disabled on your TV for that tests?

Thanks for your collaborations.
OK guys I made more test.
The issue of not smooth playback is present (and still present) only when the setting 'Adjust display refresh rate' is setted to OFF. That is my preferred choose beacuse I don't like that Kodi will go to change, every time, the refresh rate before play a video (most of my videos are between 23.976 fps and 30 fps).
With 'Adjust display refresh rate' setted to OFF Kodi will not go to changes the refresh rate also if the videos are 23.976 fps, or 24 fps, or 25 fps, etc.. (my Kodi is setted to 3840 × 2160 pixel @ 60 Hz).
The issue is here: when 'Adjust display refresh rate' is setted to OFF the video is NOT smooth (choppy video/frames skipping) when playing 23.976 fps or 24 fps videos.

Instead when I set 'Adjust display refresh rate' to ON the video is perfect (smooth). However this involves that every time the refresh rate can change before play a video.

OK, by setting 'Adjust display refresh rate' to ON I workarounded (not solved) the isuue.

You can test by yourself:
1. Disable any "Motion Interpolation" on the TV
2. Set Kodi to 3840 × 2160 pixel @ 60 Hz
3. Set 'Adjust display refresh rate' to OFF
4. Play a 23.976 fps video

I hope that the NOT smooth playback will be solved also if the setting 'Adjust display refresh rate' is setted to OFF.

Thanks!

I downloaded and installed AnTuTu Benchmark app and under basic info option I could see it is 32 bit version.

I just installed the latest nightly build and still have this issue, but way more subtle.

My setup;

LG OLED 65EF950V
- LG TRU-Motion is completely off
Pioneer SC-LX56 receiver
Nvidia Shield (2015) with latest firmware
Kodi 18 Leia latest nightly build
- 'Adjust display refresh rate' is set to ON (Start/Stop)
- 'Audio Delay' set to -0.150ms for tiptop sync

In normal spoken scenes you cant really tell the slight stutter/frame skip but when panning or action scenes you can.
In 17.6 it was much more noticable then 18 but its still there, can other confirm?

People with LG OLED tv's having the same issue?
