Bug -  KODI 17/18 + Sony Android TV + HDR10 Content = Grey Bars
#31
Our Android maintainer has to decide if we degrade kodi's general performance for _all_ Android devices out there - I simply don't care at all.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

this can only be really fixed by sony in their firmware

edit: the more apps provide ugly workarounds, the less sony will fix it

To top it, it seems Sony also block Kodi from being installed on certain devices.
So please all start complaining to Sony

Yup looks like we're blocked on. 2017/18 models now. Funny when they used to have us suggested for third party add-on usage.

IMPORTANT:
The official Kodi version does not contain any content what so ever. This means that you should provide your own content from a local or remote storage location, DVD, Blu-Ray or any other media carrier that you own. Additionally Kodi allows you to install third-party plugins that may provide access to content that is freely available on the official content provider website. The watching or listening of illegal or pirated content which would otherwise need to be paid for is not endorsed or approved by Team Kodi.

We could add the name to our own Kodi blacklist making it light up in log files and the forum posts, and consequently support will be stopped...

Please test: https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/BuildMulti-Choice/194/ which will result in: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/ - it will have the name "trans" in it ~ 20 minutes.

It is not necessary to degrade kodi's general performance for _all_ Android devices. I'm sure there is a way to detect the hardware signature, either by "Sony" or Mediatek. So it will be an if else situation.

Should make it an Ads for everyone to see before they purchase Sony.

With this version, the grey bars still exist on my kd55af8.

Next try here please: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk - also take care of another upcoming binary in this folder that has "trans2" in the name. Please test both.

a) http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk
b) http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk

Anything good here?
