Release CBC TV (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation)
Can somebody help and take me by hand and help me to instal my first add on .
Kodi drive me crazy as i can not install the first add on.
It works until i put the address, or i download the CBC, but from there i don't see it anymore.
I have two options:
Get CBC from download , or get another soft by putting a zip file or an MRU.
I am completely confuse.
And in top of that, some posted MRU link, does not works.
You install them and in the end when you go to channels, it is an empty place.
I installed IPTV, but no chanel on it.
Please help.

How to Patch Add-on for KODI 18.x LEIA ONLY:

The following steps assume that you have the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) video add-on version 4.0.6 for Kodi 18 Leia already installed on your Kodi computer.

  1. Create replacement files for the following:

For example for each file: open file link above, open a text editor, copy the file link contents, paste into text editor, save the file with above listed filename, and exit the text editor.

  2. Determine the location of the Kodi addons folder where plugin.video.cbc is installed on your Kodi computer.

    For example:

    • /storage/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.cbc/ for LibreELEC on Raspberry Pi.
    • ~/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.cbc/ for Kodi on Ubuntu where ~ is your home directory.

Note that the location of the addons folder should be similar to the userdata folder.

  3. Copy the new files over top of the existing kodi files.

For example on a Raspberry Pi with LibreELEC 9.2.7 installed I used the following commands:

    scp -p default.py [email protected]:/storage/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.cbc/

    scp -p cbc.py shows.py [email protected]:/storage/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.cbc/resources/lib/

Note that you would need to substitute the IP address for your Raspberry Pi (see System -> System Info).

This is really great!
I used your "patched" files to create a new zip archive (in Windows) and the transferred to my RPi3B+ (LibreELEC 9.2.8) using SMB and then installed (from zip).
I can now see and play Shows.
Just for your information, I can still see Live Channels, but the will not play.
Thanks.

Are you planning on releasing the 4.0.7 update for Leia as well?

I still have several Raspberry Pi devices "stuck" on Kodi 18.9

Thanks.

You might consider switching from whatever you’re using now to xbian. Their kodi 19.1 works on RasPi 3b
If you want links to check it out/download, let me know. I’ve been using xbian on my pi4 for 2(?) yrs now, give or take, and it has been nothing but stable and solid.

Thanks for the heads up about Live Channels.  I had missed that change.  The fix is now in an updated default.py file in the prior post.

Interesting news...
I am familiar with XBian (I still have the links), but have not looked at it since the OpenELEC days.
I will certain give the new version a try on my test Raspberry Pi box.
Thanks.

I just updated with your new default.py and can confirm that Live Channels now play on my system.
Thanks.

Thank you for reply.
Unfortunately, my level of knowledge on Kodi is less than5-8 hours, so your solution is out of my reach.
Regards.

Oh, this is so awesome! Thanks for putting in your time and energy to fixing this CBC addon issue. Oddly enough, the live CBC Newsworld still streamed no problem... Huh Out of curiosity, did this issue happen because CBC updated something on their end? I had the same issue with my Youtube addon, and also had to find a patch. Maybe they're related?

Yes, this is one of the most common causes.

Not likely as these are two separate services/web destinations.

@ kodaksmith  Is the CBC Sports addon something you would be able to look at.  I know there are a number of us who would be very grateful for its return.

Credit for the updates to the CBC add-on belong to micahg.  I only back-ported the necessary web changes to work with Kodi 18 Leia as that is what I use on all my Raspberry Pi's.  I only have Kodi 19 Matrix for testing on NVidia Shield and for me there is no reason to upgrade.

Thanks @micahg and @kodaksmith for the fixes. I'm able to watch CBC again through Kodi.

May be a minor hiccup. I watch CBC Coronation St regularly and while GEM has posted two days of episodes since Monday online neither shows up on Kodi
