@latts9923 @Juan Mortyme here are my findings so far. But first I'll explain my setup.
- The Artist Information folder is on my Android TV Box.
- The Artist Information folder contains the artist (extra) fanart, folder.jpg banner.jpg clearlogo.png. landscape.jpg and artist.nfo files for 148 artists (hardrock, house, pop).
- The extrafanart images are stored locally besides the artist.nfo file (in the root artist folder).
I followed Juan's advice. I created an extrafanart folder and copied the fanart, fanart1, fanart2 etc images to the extrafanart folder. In the extrafanart folder I renamed fanart.jpg to fanart0.jpg. I don't use online scrapers. Artist and album info comes from local .nfo files. The .nfo files contain al necessary info, like MusicBrainz Artist ID, MusicBrainz Album Release groep ID, MusicBrainz Release ID, etc. I'm using an advancedsetting.xml file to apply all extra artwork during the scan. The music folders are located on my pc.
I've deleted the thumbnails folder and Music72.db and Textures13.db file, before starting Kodi Leia. Than I added the folder Hardrock on my PC to the library. After the scan, I can immediately see the extrafanart images rotating in the Shelf3D view in the upper right corner (thumbnail slideshow). The Shelf3D view uses the extrafanart folder, to display these images. Without the extrafanart folder, the fanart0, fanart1, etc images don't rotate, When I select AB: Select Artwork form the contextmenu, I can see that the extrafanart images from the root Artist Information folder have been applied to the database correctly. But they don't appear in the background. I only see the default fanart. I have to restart Kodi, before I see the extrafanart images rotating in the background. To make a long story short, for the Hardrock folder I think everything is working as it should, with the exception that I have to restart Kodi. But now comes the part, that baffles my mind.
The structure for the House music folder on my PC is a little different. I'm actually adding the subfolder "- Artiesten" to my library. House is the rootfolder and - Artiesten is its subfolder. This has never caused any issues so far. All House albums and albumart is being applied correctly to the database. I can see the extrafanart images rotating in the Shelf3D view in the upper right corner (thumbnail slideshow). But the extrafanart images in the background won't appear. And that baffles my mind, because when I select AB Select Artwork from the contextmenu, I can see that the extrafanart images in the Artist Information folder have been applied to the database. Check Tiësto below. So for the folder House it makes no difference whether the extrafanart images are stored in the root folder or in the extrafanart folder. They are just being ignored.
