But if this rework was to be done , Could you kindly just give me some pointers as to what , where & how . I will then try & pitch this to some experienced coder who might be able to have a look at this .

there are many files involved clearly is impossible explain everything because it would require the writing of many pages
like everyone else you will have to learn to study how works the source code and Kodi addon interface
