Kodi: 17.6 Git:20171114-a9a7a20 Media Center Kodi

I am running with ubuntu 16.04  I have been reading about my subject for a couple of hours and trying this and that (there are a LOT of stuff about this one).  I have now managed to remove all my tv from kodi for instance, messing with content stuff.  I thought I had better stop and ask for help before get wrecked.

Thank you..........

It's not a Linux problem, it's a TVDB API problem.
More people have already mentioned it on the forum

Thank you for the reply.  It was, however, not really helpful.  I just searched for TVDB API and got 12 pages of responses going back to 2007.  The most recent say, basically, there is nothing to be done.   I have been reading all this stuff for hours.  Everybody has solutions and all the solutions seem to be different.  I have actually tried a few and figured that if I kept it up it would be disaster, which is why I posted here!

Since this seems to be a known problem I am assuming that somebody knows how to fix the problem.  There must be a solution that makes sense and solves the problem?

You haven't actually told us what problem you are experiencing. All you have said is that you have been reading for hours, and that you removed TV Shows.

So what problem are you experiencing?

Ok, The problem was that no shows were being updated and I kept getting the unable to connect to remote server thing.  I think I have now fixed it.  Here is what I did.
went to video
went to files
went to TV
right clicked
clicked on change content
changed the content to not the tvdb scraper
updated the library  (this removed all my shows from kodi except for 3 exceptions)
after it finished
went to kodi home
clicked on addons
clicked on download
clicked on information providers
clicked on tv information
clicked on tvdb
clicked on update (updated the tvdb scraper to 3.01)
updated the library again (which restored all my shows)
Now it seems that all of my shows have been updated

The reason I think that this fixed the problem is that I updated my library 2 times.  The first time, without interruption of a problem, and it cleverly removed all my shows.  There is something else I read about that suggested a different way to do that but I thought I would try the other scraper - I had no idea what it would do and had no idea my shows would disappear from kodi.  I would suggest that anybody else doing thing should probably find the way to properly remove the shows but this worked for me.  The first library update took over an hour.  The second, with the updated tvdb thing took a bit longer but it also worked, ie. no interruptions noting a problem.

so, thanks to all who helped by simply pointing out the tvdb problem which now seems to be fixed.

Have a nice day...................

Ok, I think it was a case of bad timing. The TVDB site was down for around 24 hours, and the time of your post indicates you may have tried to scrape your library during this time.

The TVDB site is now operational again... and the timing of your last post also suggests your library scrape worked because the site is operational again.

FYI, the wiki page to add and remove titles from your library the correct way... https://kodi.wiki/view/Updating_or_removing_videos

I just had another connection adventure.  This one is strange.
Quote:I was running kodi and was told it was not connected. I then went to system, in kodi, and checked the network. It told me that the mac address and internet was busy. I fussed around but did not mess with the network.  I went back to Kodi and checked the network again.  It then it told me that the internet was not connected although it thought it was connected on the top line of the network reporter. I then disconnected my wired connect and then re-connected and everything was dandy and everything was updated fine.

I then went and checked my logs.  I did not have them set to debug.  Here is a little piece of the log:

network check and network down lines repeated about 100 times.

When I reset the network the log went to old log and started a new log.  Tomorrow I am going to set logging to debug and leave it on all day and see if it happens again with debug on.  If it does I will repost and include that log.

Has anybody else ever experienced this kind of stuff?
