Hi Hannes,

So what PPA did you use with this build 33035, please?
I used the official SVN :http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/ppa/ubuntu and there, the latest release is 32246. It reports that the latest as 33035 but how do you install the latest?

The one I installed 32246 and listed under official SVN PPA is full with bugs and video problems.

I had problems with video being choppy so I started with a new clean system: installed lucid on a clean hard drive, done all the upgrades, restarted and then:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

Successfully build xbmc at SVN33035 but video is choppy no matter what option I select from system/video.

I thought the older version is buggy since the video was choppy too, but this one behaves exactly the same. Sad

This thing blows me away: I have installed XBMC onto a USB flash from a SVN XBMC 10.xx live CD. This is at version SVN32246 and it works perfect. It boots right from the USB.
It is set with identical settings with the one installed on the hard drive and it reports the same video driver version. Why an older version would work and a newer not?
When working with the USB version, while playing video the CPU average is around 45-50% and when running the hard drive version, the latest on PPA, the CPU is running at over 70% and frames are dropping.

Do you guys offer any advice? How could I transfer/copy the working version onto the hard drive but to have desktop, browsing, etc?
I have seen others having the similar problems but no solution yet. Everyone that installed the SVN version is running smooth?

I have a on-board video Intel GMA4500 (G43) chip.

Don't want to sound like a smart ass but a debug log couldn't hurt.

You are right bud, I already did it: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=79193
but so far no advice yet and wanted to know from this thread if others have similar problems.

you have an intel chip and the VA-API is still very buggy, so there's a high probability that you see differences between different builds

I cannot update to svn currently, it seems to be up now but no update performed. Done following re-added ppa (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa), sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade, sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, no luck....help appreciated..

this choppy video playback complaining & moaning, have you tested the files in question from local hdd as comparing same file over smb or your protocol of choice, does it still happen?

@zemmy if your xbmc installed version starts with 2:10.08 then you need to purge it, apt-get clean, apt-get update and install xbmc manually.

Version starts PRE 10.05 xxxx last updated 15 Aug..so I'm in trouble I guess..
