I am new to Kodi and comskip doesn't seem to be working the way that I've seen it described elsewhere in the forums.

I expect the following behaviors, but only #1 is working for me.  

1. Autoskip based on EDL file
   
2. Down arrow within 10 s of autoskip jumps back to the point just before the previous jump
   
3. A given commercial is only skipped once (manually seeking prior to the commercial, will then allow the commercial to play)
   

Is this a known issue or are there any workarounds?  Do all of these features work in v18?

That is fine, but are these behaviors what I should expect?  There seems to be no mention of the skip back or skip only once behaviors in the wiki, but it is referenced several times on the forums.  If the expectation is for this to work I'd be happy to test on v18 and submit a bug report if it doesn't work.

Without one or both of these behaviors commercial skip is pretty useless unless your comskip detection is correct 100% of the time (which it never is).

Well it looks like all 3 comskip behaviors work in v18, there are a few issues I've noticed that prevent it from being usable

FYI I was able to patch the issue in v17.6 and compile the source into a custom install file.  It seems to have fixed the issue for me.  If anyone else is interested the patched code and exe files are available here:
