I upgraded from Kodi 17 to Kodi 18 Beta (on Windows platform and latest LibreElec 8.90.005), using standard Estuary skin.

Now always after starting Kodi the "TV-Shows" tab is selected as default. In Kodi 17 the "Movies" tab was the default.

How can I change this? I prefer the "Movies" tab as default since I mostly watch movies...

OK. I figured it out by myself:

It was this line in Home.xml:
<focusposition>1</focusposition>

After changing it to: <focusposition>0</focusposition> it works as expected...

And LibreELEC doesn´t change that as I use LibreELEC myself.

Modifying that is not that simple as the location of that skin is in the read-only section of LibreELEC. So I´m really not sure how this could be changed by an update. Might it be possible you already modified that yourself by copying the skin to a different location (for LibreELEC: /storage/.kodi/addons) and you are not using default Estuary?

Ah, you got me. I'm using a slightly customized version of Estuary since Kodi 17. Is it possible, that the default in v17 was "1"? I never changed this value by myself...

I found it on github. In v17 the default was "1". So they must have changed the numbering in v18.
