I was very excited to learn about Kodi and I have set it up on my Firestick. My problem is I am disabled and have a hard time hearing the programs. My questions are:

Do I have to "load" subtitles each time I want to view a TV show or movie?

How do I make them work?

Is there a "universal" subtitle generator I could use for everything?

I will be grateful for any help I can get, because Kodi is useless to me without subtitles or closed captions

There is no "generator on-the-fly" for Kodi like Youtube has. Movie and TV Show files *can* have subtitles embedded, and should show automatically.

There are several subtitle services that can provide subtitle files. Depending on the language you need, more or less subtitles are available. The OpenSubtitles.org addon should give you a good start. Selecting subtitle addons goes via the System/Player/Language/Download Services section.

Also reassigning a key via keymapping can start the whole subtitle selection a bit easier.
