Media Companion - Manage Icons, Posters, FanArt, .NFO's & more for Movies & TV Shows
anoobie Wrote:Hi billy, I think you should remove the word "votes" after the actual vote number because it's repeated in xbmc so it shows like for example "2000 votes votes" in xbmc.

Yeah, I noticed this too. Any chance this can get a overhaul in the next build?

Is there any chance that you would release this project as a open source porject? I believe your project would benefit from making the source code available, and make it open. That would probably speed up the resolving of bugs and issues, and quicken the way to a stable version.

Nice! I already went through and edited out "votes" in the nfo's I have created so far and I will just hold off on doing more until the next release. It looks like <control type="label" id="30"> automatically adds in the word "votes" so it does not need to be included in the text.

What other new features can we expect in this coming release? This app is amazing and it just keeps getting better and better. Cheers.

Mostly the next version will be tweaking to what the program already does.

There have been 2 main areas I have been concentrating on.

Firstly is the stability of the program. The last few releases have had so many problems that I have quite frankly been embarrassed. I am hoping that the next version will show significant improvement in this area.

Secondly is the overall speed of operation, specifically TV Shows. I got one Email from someone stating it took 5 minutes to load all his tv shows in. This seemed to me very excessive but even on my machine, I have to admit that it was slow and I've managed to make it a lot more useable.

Until the stability issues have been sorted then i'm not looking to add any significant new features.

This is a locality thing. In UK we call Series 1 etc

I suppose I could add an option to change this to "Season"

Hi all. I've been a lurker for some time now, thought it was time I made my mark. Been using media companion for a couple of weeks now and have loved it. I had quite a large Movie/TV library (a few terabytes) and I had to change my naming convention so XBMC and the media companion would recognize my media. That took me a while, but with that done i've been using media companion to scrape stuff the last couple of weeks. I got through my movies pretty well, i'm having some slight problems with my TV shows. Mostly with 2-part episodes. Some of my files are double eps. I've named them in what I thought was the correct way for XBMC as shown here;
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=TV_...onventions

Eg. Show name - S01E23E24 - Episode Name.avi

However when I scrape with media companion, it only seems to scrape the first half of the file/episode. How do I have to name my files so that it scrapes episode 24 (ie. the 2nd half)?

Also, is it possible to scrape for missing fanart without having to re-scrape everything? I scraped my movies before movie fanart was introduced. Now I want to get the movie fanart if it's possible. Do I have to start over?

Thanks for your help guys. Sorry if these things have been covered before. I have read most of this thread and don't remember seeing it.

I forgot to add my thanks to the chorus in my post above. The program is fantastic!

You don't have to start over. Just do click Movie/ Scan all movies for new fanart.

XBMC Media Companion latest version is 1.700

Main Changes Since Last Release

Several routines causing instability for many people have been completely re-written. I am hoping that most issues have been resolved.

The overall speed of the program has been greatly improved, especially with regard to TV Shows.

"votes" has been removed from scraped information - just the number is scraped now

Series has been changed to Season in TV Shows

Fanart Slideshow is now possible for movies/TV Shows with multiple fanarts - To use this the fanart must be available in the following format :-

moviename-fanart.jpg

moviename-fanart2.jpg

moviename-fanart3jpg etc.

or for TV Shows

fanart.jpg

fanart2.jpg

fanart3.jpg etc.

If you use the program to scrape these then they will be named like this automatically.

I'm not sure I understand. I have movie fanart enabled in preferences. I hit "Scan", but it doesn't find any fanart.

So I tried deleting the NFO and TBN files for a movie I knew would have fanart; The Matrix. When I re-scanned then, it scraped the NFO and TBN, and found all the fanart for The Matrix.

Is it possible to find all the movie fanart without starting over? What am I doing wrong?

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to name double episodes of TV so they scrape properly? I'm still having trouble on that front too.Big Grin

For some reason I can't edit posts...

Just wanted to say, billy, it's amazing how quickly you knock out these updates. I've only been using media companion for 2-3 weeks, and I think there's been 3 or 4 updates in that time! The only problem is each time you add new features, i'm tempted to re-scrape what i've already done to make sure the stuff i've got is as good as it can be. Big Grin

It's not exactly a bad problem to have...

There's an option under movie between file and tools to "scan all movies for new fanart". Just select that to get fanart without re-scraping the movies.
