Blame AMLogic and the vendors of your devices. Complain loudly to them.

Same issues with the FireTV Stick 4K and the Oreo 8.1 equipped 2018 Mi Box.

The Oreo 8.0 - 2016 Mi Box still has IEC61937 support and the Nvidia Shield does as well.

AMLogic S9xx Chipset users need to use CoreELEC Kodi Leia if they want stable, working HD audio passthrough, including. Atmos:

Many thanks for this information and the hint with coreELEC. Currently there seems no native support for the S922. I will have a look for it periodically and try it when released.

Many thanks! I will test it.

Make sure to post a Debug Log, please after trying. Curious on the results.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I’m using a S922X Odroid N2 as my daily CoreELEC Kodi Leia HD audio device.

I can also dual boot into an Android TV OS 9.0 Pie image that is running from a microSDHC card. USB3 sticks could also be used.

sorry, was quite busy last 2 days.

well, with the forceraw version DD+ 7.1 is now working, TrueHD does still not.
here is the log: https://paste.kodi.tv/ayolovopab.kodi

CoreELEC is not yet released in a stable version for the GTking. I'll wait for the stable release.

TrueHD and DTSHD is not impelemented by Firmware only CORE streams.

Thank you! I tried and it works seamlessly and it is not just the audio part.. I can see lot of options for Video resolution as well..
Couple of issues though (not complaining... just stating)
I need to "toothpick" everytime to get into this mode and the CPU and GPU temperatures are around 167F when I checked after 30-40 mins of use.
