v18 Playback of only *.IFO & *.VOB files in v18 stutters and is choppy
#1
OK, so here goes...
Ii have a movie library consisting of nearly 12TB of movies and TV shows.  90+% are in raw DVD format (aka .IFO and .VOB files).
I also own 3 different generations of FireTV devices.
Under Kodi 17, all movies and TV Shows play perfectly fine.

But once I upgraded any device to Kodi v18, VOB & IFO playback suffers, resulting in my having to revert to Kodi v17.  Additionally all mkv and mp4 videos play fine with no stutter or choppiness at all!

Surely someone else has figured this out?

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Likely to be known issue with DVD playback on some Android devices, assuming Mediacodec hardware acceleration is on, then try switching it off to see if it makes any difference to your DVD files.

I've turned off both Allow HW acceleration MediaCodec settings, not as choppy, but still too choppy to watch!

However, on all my FireTV devices, after reverting to Kodi v.17 playback is fine.

The issue is most definitely with v.18!

Unfortunately the logs are on the storage within my FireTV devices (3 different generations) and I have no way to extract or post them here.

I'm pretty technical, so if you have instructions on how to extract logs from a fireTV, please post them.

After uninstalling v.18 and re-installing v.17 on each FireTV, I can once again enjoy my media library!

The issue is clearly with v.18!

I have the exact same issue as the topic starter. In my case Kodi is running on a Win10 machine so I can extract the logs.
Followed the wiki steps to create a logfile, but can't upload it because it is 1.5MB in size and pastebin only allows 1MB.
How to proceed from here?
