Video stretched on Phillips TV after update
#16
Hi guys,

My Philips POS9002 has the same "problem". With Kodi some files will get stretched.

I've found a "solution" for this while there's no real update. (I think Philips wont update in a near future...)

When Playing a file, click on the OK of the remote to get the "menu" bar in the bottom. The click on the options (the Gear, or turning wheel). And there, you have an pixel ratio option. I Think Around 70 or 75 does the trick.

Check it out.

Best regards

Also, another workaround is to change aspect ratio to "stretch to 16:9" in settings. But it is not convinient to change it for every movie...

Did they come up with anything usefull at the Philips support?

My problem is solves with newer firmware found on this page:

Thanks, I will try it for mine 7803 tonight. Is it only German FW or it is general (English)?

Well I Have to "eat" my words... Phillips pushed and update to resolve the aspect ratio.

With the new 230.0 it seams the problem is resolved.

That's great news. I still have an ongoing case with the support and they've been pretty unhelpful. Might be my last Philips TV. We'll see.

I find it a bit weird that a company like Philips that was one of, if not THE, first TV manufacturer(s) to introduce a 2.35:1 TV onto the market, is suffering from firmware bugs regarding aspect ratio of videos. Quality Assurance isn't what it used to be.

I installed this new FW version and it didn't help. In KODI still wrong aspect ratio in movies with 2.35:1. Damn Philips...

Can you get your money back?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Got the same problem on a 55PUS7503 even with the new firmware .230. However, if I watch a movie with Philips native app it works fine.

So, with .230 in Kodi it is wrong aspect ratio but with native player it is fixed?
I am not sure was it correct on Philips native player also on previous .222 FW.
Now it seems like Kodi should fix something because I doubt that Philips will release new FW if native player is working correctly.
