This morning I decided to reinstall Kodi, but not move in any of my settings at all, and it now works fine!
So Bart, that's one thing you can ignore now!
Seems I spoke too soon!!!!!!
I have however found out exactly why I have been having this problem, but unfortunately I cannot revert the issue, as I will try to explain in steps below:
This takes place with a new Kodi install (on my nVidia shield) as I mentioned above.
I did not move in any of my settings, so had to go and redo all the settings from new.
At this point before I started doing my settings, I was able to "Update library" and when I did so it changed to "Stop scanning".
1. In my quest for grammatical consitency, I like for all words in a title or command to be capitalized. So, I went into the settings, and into movies submenu.
2. I chose "Update library" and went to change the label to "Update Library" (all I did was change the lower case l to an upper case L).
3. I also did the above to the TV Shows "Update library" and the music "Update library".
4. When I then went back to the main menu and pressed "Update Library" it did not change to "Stop scanning".
5. Realising what the problem could well be, I then went back to settings and changed all the "Update Library" labels to "Update library", ie: the original label.
6. This did not have the result I expected, as went back to the main menu and pressed "Update Library" it did not change to "Stop scanning".
So it seems that if the label is changed in any way it does not prompt the change from "Update library" to "Stop scanning".
Even changing the label back to default does not remedy the situation.
As an extra test, I then installed Kodi on windows, and carried out the exact steps 1-6 as above.
Same result!
So Bart, I was wondering if you could kindly help me out, as by the time I got to this stage I had spent hours this afternoon sorting out so many settings, so the thought of returning to a fresh Kodi install once again just to remedy this issue is not exactly appealing!!!! Is there anyway you could sort this out for me?
As ever, so many thanks for all your help.
Kind regards,
Robert.
