For me this is the most important advantage. Prior to this only madVR could do this.

But only Nvidia and AMD gpus can use it.
I have already deleted my fandangos2 fork (fandangos original git still up) and I'm just updating the libs and using his fork for now.

I believe this button might be a temporary solution. It will be hard to figure out an automatic way but I think he will manage it, his coding skills are far beyond anything I can do.

On Jogals fork HDR is not automatically turned on/off, unlike yours Sad. Unless i am doing something wrong.

Use his fork, this is obsolete.

The only difference now is that this fork support libbluray 1.1.2 that supports uhd BD and is automatic for hdr content.

I'll update the first post when I have time.

Does his fork support libbluray 1.1.1 or something? Or does it have NO UHD BD support?

It does.
I have removed the recent 4.0 versions to start using jogal's fork from now on.

If you want uhd bluray menus use version 3.0 if you need python 2 and 3.0.1 if you need python 3 for your addons.

There's a pull request right now at main kodi branch on github that will update libbluray to 1.1.2. thanks to Paxxi!

Here's a link to the 10 bit issue explained a little better. Seems kodi is using 10 bit because it's a direct x program in full screen. Maybe someone else can shed more light.

In short, don't worry about it but you can't select 10bit unless you have a pascal card.

I have a Pascal card (GTX 1080) but can't select 10 bits. Only 8 or 12 Sad

But in that case you need to have the desktop @30Hz or less right?

Will I need to use the advancedsettings.xml on Jogals release to enable the private API or is it built into it already?

His fork does not use private API it uses Windows API and that works no matter what gpu you have.
No need for advancedsettings.xml

Latest drivers, yes. DisplayPort, no, because I need to go through the AVR...

What are you referring to? Difficulty of what?

By the way I'm compiling one last version of this fork with the old code (from 3.0) and even with main kodi as of today.

Final release is live, you can get it here:

https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Ed.../tag/FINAL

I won't be updating this any further.
WindowsAPI is capable of outputing the exact same metadata as private APIs with the advantage of working for every single HDR capable device.
This means, this is not restricted only to Nvidia and AMD dedicated GPUs, but also Intel is able to enjoy it.

Also, private APIs are private and would never be merged into main Kodi.

I've just build it for fun and I suggest that everyone interested in HDR playback on Windows to use Jogal's fork from now on.

I thank every and each one of you who helped me with testing and feedback and specially the donations that helped getting AMD to work.
Thank you.

Have fun Smile
