Too fast playback with video in Hardy chroot
#1
I created a hardy chroot and installed xbmc using the hardy svn debs.

Good (diff from using the 64 bit)
I have have thumbs again
Thumbnails work
Other Pictures display
SMB browsing works
Much faster

The bad
Video plays too fast (this is not an exaggeration. It plays a minute worth in less than 8 seconds)
No audio

The audio is reproducible in mplayer, so I assume it is one of my settings and will fix that myself.

The video plays perfect in mplayer. It is only in XMBC that the speed is too fast.

An example video is the "open-movie " Big Buck Bunny (http://mirror.bigbuckbunny.de/peach/bigb...rround.avi) but the same happens with any video of any resolution.

I tried searching the forum, but did not see much in the way of chroot setups.

Sometimes it helps to just start with the known problem.

The sound issue and the video issue are one in the same. If using Debian Sid as you OS (in this case with a Hardy chroot) one line will fix this problem.

Open /etc/schroot/mount-defaults and add the line
/dev /dev none rw,bind 0 0
before the line starting with /dev/pts

Dont know about the chroot setup but if your audio drivers are not correct it will cause XBMC to play video too fast.
Fix the audio and the video will probably be fine
