I get ones showing up which are not terribly useful, because they literally only have one show. The movie ones are great, but for the TV-studio-specific ones, I would love to just be able to hide them and only show ones I curate with smart playlists based on actual network airing.

No, Pre-Defined channels are designed to be a simple, easy and quick way to create Pseudo Channels based on your Kodi content... It's 100% generated from the content on your system. All Genres, Networks, and Studio lists are in the top 25 based on their content type. If your selection is "not terribly useful" then your collection is.... *cough  Tongue.

A "Pre-Defined" smartplaylist list; won't be added because there is nothing "Pre-Defined" about a smartplaylist; It's categorized as a "User-Defined" channel. The supplied channel manager is the correct way to add "User-Defined" content.

Yeah, I get how the user-defined stuff works. And it works well for me. I really prefer the more nuanced control, especially because I can avoid weird edge cases. For example, I have a pretty massive collection of retro Nickelodeon content. One of my primary motivations for using PseudoTV Live is to have essentially a "90s Nickelodeon" channel. When I first installed PTVL, it gave me a predefined Nickelodeon channel successfully, which was awesome. But then I also got a weird channel that was literally nothing but Hey Arnold, while Hey Arnold never appeared on the Nickelodeon channel. And then certain classic Nick shows that also aired on a canadian network prior to being (more famously) rebroadcast on Nickelodeon appeared on a PTVL channel for that network instead of the Nick one. So for me, using a smart playlist driven user-defined channel is worth the little bit of extra work.

Incidentally, after asking the question here, I was kind of aimlesssly poking around Kodi and discovered that you can hide ("disable") channels in IPTV Simple. So I can basically get my desired effect! It just has to do with curating the channel list, as opposed to doing anything in PTVL – I guess the only advantage then of doing anything at the add-on level would just be to eliminate the resource usage of maintaining channels that I never want to use. But hopefully that's not much of a theoretical performance difference, even if it were possible.
Now I'm confused... LOL

Why would you want to "disable" a pre-defined channel through IPTV simple and not by de-selecting from the pre-defined list? also, a "weird channel that was literally nothing but Hey Arnold"... ?

FYI, in case you didn't know.... during your initial launch of PseudoTV, You are prompted to "AutoTune" channels. Autotune will take 3 items from each "Pre-Defined" content type ie. (Networks, TV Genres, TV Shows, Movie Genres, Mixed Genres, Movie Studios, Mixed (Other), Music Genres and Recommend Channels) and create channels for you. Needless to say, if you don't have diverse content you might not get 3 channels for each type, and content meant to be network-based may appear show-based.

Your "Hey Arnold" channel sounds like a "TV Show" type channel or the only content for a particular network and or genre type.... if you no longer want it, you can remove it by going to "AutoTune" and de-selecting the channel. The channel name and group type will yield the list the channel originated from

another FYI the Genre, Network, Studio meta is provided by you and your Kodi library; if you disagree with it or it is incorrect you can correct it anytime. This data is not unique to PseudoTV; it's collected from Kodi meta. = )

There is no need to maintain channels you do not want... enjoy!
