howdy ya’ll! new-ish 2019 pro user here. i just bought this couple of months ago. android tv os is latest update, no more updates. i'm using tcl p605 latest 10.x update on that as well. if you know anything about tcl, you know that there is no way to adjust hdmi on tcls like lg/sony/etc. i've physically hooked up shield pro 2019 directly to hdmi ports 2 & 3. i haven't used the e-arc I've read issues about it. the shield pro 2019 has gigabit wired, no wifi is setup.
the very first thing i did after initial configuration is install x-explorer file management. then downloaded kodi master nightly from september, disable play protect and installed the apkv8 fine.
after i installed it, kodi played any mkv dolby vision files that i had without fail. it was flawless!
last night, for whatever reason, due to my stupidity/perception i dunno why. i should have listened to the old addage "if it aint broke, dont fix it", i decided to uninstall it and take matrix 19.2 from the play store directly for a spin. i completely lost dolby vision playback. hdr10 is fine, just dolby vision. all other DV-capable apps work fine, google play movie, vudu, apple tv, etc. every DV stream works perfectly.
so i thought, should be easy, i uninstalled 19.2 matrix and reinstalled both september and october nightly (from last night) and now cant play any Dolby Vision. weird right?
i’ve done a complete system reset erase everything and re-initialize everything and installed nightly only for 20x. no DV playback behavior persists.
is there a trick to making dv stick? gplay, vudu, apple tv all play dv streams fine. i just cant get kodi to work again, so weird right? serves me right for being curious.
