What 10-bit content are you playing? 10 to 12-bit upsampling on most players is just padding, not dithering, isn't it - the dithering is usually reserved for 10-bit to 8-bit downsampling to mitigate quantisation banding?
(I have a native 10-bit panel in my Sony UHD HDR FALD TV, it doesn't use FRC. I've not noticed anything particularly unpleasant when playing native 10-bit HD h.265 Rec 709 SDR content I've mastered myself from 4:2:2 10-bit AVCi100 masters, when played via a 4:2:2 12-bit HDMI connection, though I use my Shield TV less and less these days)
